Biography
Hello, my name is Tammie Royal, and this is my first year as the librarian at Notre Dame. I feel very blessed to be a part of the faculty here. It is encouraging to come to work knowing that the mission of the school is to educate the students to live following the model of Jesus.
I came to TX in 1986 from Northwestern MN and began my teaching career in Los Fresnos, TX. I have taught, first and fifth grades in the classroom setting, elementary library classes (PreK - 5th grades) as a campus librarian, and I have worked with dyslexia students in small groups of six using the Scottish Rite Take Flight program.
I retired from Bandera ISD in 2021 with 33 years of classroom and librarian experience. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University, Bemidji, MN, and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, TX with certifications as a Master Reading Teacher and Reading Specialist in the state of Texas. I am certified in the state of Texas in Elementary Education/all subjects, (1st-8th Gr), Library Science Texas Certification (K-12th Gr.), and I hold a Dyslexia Therapist Certification along with a Texas Dyslexia License.
I knew when I was in fourth grade that I wanted to be a teacher. God’s grace and guidance helped me to pursue my dream and I have always enjoyed working with students and guiding them to grow in their learning styles.
My family includes my husband, Bill and our three grown children and their spouses plus six grandchildren. We have lived in Kerrville since 2021.
