Biography

Hi! My name is Mary Holt. I have taught Kindergarten at Notre Dame since
2022. Prior to that, I was a Kinder teacher at St. Mary’s in Fredericksburg
for 1 year after “retiring” from KISD (Tally Elementary) with 21 years as a
Kindergarten teacher! I really love Kindergarten!!!

I was born and raised in Austin, Texas where I graduated from the
University of Texas (Hook ‘em!) My husband and I moved to Kerrville in
1988. After our kids started school, I attended Schreiner University to
obtain my teacher certification. In addition to an Early Childhood through
Sixth grade certification, I am certified K-12 P.E, 9-12 Speech, 9-12 English
Language Arts/Reading and ESL supplemental.

We have 3 children: Shannon (who works for HEB Corp in product
placement), John (some tech thing I don’t get lol), and Bev (who teaches
Special Ed in Austin). My daughter Shannon and her husband Mark have
our only (so far) grandchild, Finn.

One of my favorite things about Kindergarten is how every single day is a
new, fun adventure for the kids (and for me)!! One of the many things I love
about Notre Dame is the strong sense of community and purpose.
