Middle School Elective Assignments

We are currently working on the Modern Language Association (MLA) format for essay and summary papers, as well as citation. This format is used at OLH, as well as many colleges.  The students use their current event assignments to practice this format, and their keyboarding skills. Students are asked to come to class on Monday's and have their articles selected. They have one class to work on, and the rest is homework. Due to me on Thursday, and Mrs. Kenalty on Fridays.

 

Students are becoming familiar with Microsoft and terms such as interface, backstage, task bar, ribbon, tabs, tool bar, quick access tool bar and the famous undo button. They will learn how to create folders and sub-folders to save their work in an organized manner. While their is no homework, they are working on a study guide to help prepare them for their upcoming quizzes on Microsoft and keyboarding. Quiz is scheduled for 22 Sep.

 

If your child is in technology as a middle school elective, it is imperative that they have a jump drive. While they can save their work one hard drive at school, they can not take that home to complete their Current Events. They are given on class period to work on this, which is about 35 min.

The other reason for them to have a jump drive, is they will be starting projects. They can save these on the hard drive, and I try to protect these from the other children who use that computer, I can not guarantee their safety. Your child was informed of this as well.
