4th- Technology

Now that we have finished exploring paint and exposed to screen terminology of Microsoft programs, your fourth graders are learning about going places online safely.

 

This of course brings up stranger danger topics, and what they know about keeping themselves safe. Children respond differently to this type of topic and may come home with concerns and questions. I encourage continued at home dialogue.

 

After we discuss internet safety we will move on to keyboarding. We will use Typing Club.com. 

 

The other class we will incorporate Microsoft programs into projects that are appropriate for your child's grade level. They will have exposure to excel, power point, and word.

 

Tomorrow is the open house, please come by and see the work your children have done.

 

I do give quizzes. Quizzes are 45 % of the grade and projects are another 45%. Miscellaneous is 10% - that includes a skill check such as properly following class procedures, using the mouse correctly, correct keyboarding posture, etc.

I do not normally give homework, but for future quizzes (we had one on computer parts), I have study guides. The children are responsible for filling in the blanks during class. I keep, and will send home with them the class before the quiz so they can study.

If a child does not do well on a quiz, I will either let them redo in class, or give them a quiz to take home and redo. If they redo, the highest grade they can get is a 75%.
